Mistfall Hunter Soul Tree Extraction

Return Chime Woodlings, Soul Trees with timed portals, Soul Ferry threads, and map-specific extract routes.

Mistfall Hunter Soul Tree Guide

Not every successful Mistfall Hunter extract follows the same script. While Returner Woodling hunts dominate Brandrgarde discourse, Soul Trees, Return Chimes, and Soul Ferry stations offer map-specific shortcuts and risk tradeoffs. This guide explains verified in-client help framing plus Open Beta player reports for Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde, without inventing spawn timers we cannot quote from official patch notes.

Read How to Extract for universal portal defense, Maps for zone choice, and Multiplayer when squads disagree on early outs versus Woodling greed.

What is a Soul Tree?

A Soul Tree is an in-map object that hosts Souls of Return — the same conceptual extract ticket tied to Woodling objectives. Interacting near a Soul Tree lets you summon an extraction point and leave with carried loot if you complete the channel before rivals interrupt.

Critical rule from in-client help summaries: Soul Trees expire. If you wait too long after the tree appears, it withers and can no longer be used for escape. Treat tree spawns like a soft timer — secure the portal quickly.

Soul Trees are not a bypass for inventory risk. Death before channel completion still jeopardizes your haul per live death rules discussed on Getting Started.

Hallowgrove — Return Chime to Woodling to Soul Tree

Hallowgrove onboarding flow differs from legacy Brandrgarde habits:

  1. After a period in-match, a Return Chime icon may appear on the mini-map at a randomized location.
  2. Follow waypoint markers and audible chiming toward the marked tree.
  3. Interact with the Return Chime to summon a Hallowgrove Woodling.
  4. Defeat the Woodling — beta help text states it transforms into a Soul Tree.
  5. Ring the bell near the Soul Tree to summon an extraction point.
  6. Interact with the extraction point to complete the run.

Special audio and visual effects reportedly reveal Woodling location when it spawns or enters combat — call those cues to your squad. Randomized chime locations mean route memorization alone fails; react to mid-run UI and sound.

Hallowgrove also experiences Gyldenmist engulfing the entire area after some time in higher-intensity modes. Staying inside the mist builds Gyldening on your character — a pressure clock separate from Soul Tree expiration. See Maps for No-Circle versus later Chaos framing.

Brandrgarde — random Soul Tree spawns

On Brandrgarde, in-client help describes Soul Trees hosting Souls of Return spawning randomly in the scene. Extraction points can be summoned directly near Soul Trees without the full Return Chime Woodling sequence used in Hallowgrove tutorials.

Brandrgarde also runs Gyldenmist spreading at regular intervals — open the map to track contraction. The zone shrink is more punishing than Hallowgrove onboarding per official help comparisons.

Returner Woodlings still appear on Brandrgarde on a cadence; defeating one drops a Soul of Return item you carry while exploring. Many veterans monitor mist spread, wait for Woodling audio, then defeat it for extract — see Returner Woodling.

Brandrgarde Cataclysm at launch adds higher-tier mechanical pressure — Maps and Season 1 — but Soul Tree expiration logic still rewards fast portal summons.

Soul Ferry — Soul Threads extract

Brandrgarde help text also references Soul Ferry stations: interact and submit a required number of Soul Threads to escape safely. Soul Threads can be looted from enemy Gyldhunters — a PvP-forward extract path when PvE Woodling timing is bad.

Squad implications:

  • A team low on threads may hunt rival hunters instead of farming Corroded elites.
  • Ferry extracts attract third parties who hear the interaction — assign peel like any portal channel on How to Extract.
  • Do not assume threads are shared until live UI confirms; communicate pickups in trio comms from Multiplayer.

We do not publish exact thread counts until verified in patch notes — check Patch Notes after hotfixes.

Early extract versus Woodling greed

Community guides describe an early-out mentality on some maps: if your squad looted well in the first minutes, a Soul Tree window may offer escape before late-match PvEvP spikes. Captain-style beginner guides call this the alternative to fighting over the bell in crowded lobbies.

Tradeoffs:

PathUpsideDownside
Soul Tree fast extractLess third-party traffic, bank loot soonerLower XP and missed high-tier POIs
Full Woodling routeStandard objective flow, better seasonal task progressMore PvP at bell and portal
Soul Ferry PvPThreads from hunters when PvE timing failsHigh fight risk, inventory loss on death

Seasonal queues like Soul Hunt may weight objectives differently — read Season 1 when live tasks publish.

Mid-season Ancestor Tree (not a Soul Tree)

Bellring’s roadmap schedules Ancestor Tree events on Hallowgrove mid-season — distinct from standard Soul Trees. That content involves Gifts of Fate treasure contests versus safe cash-out decisions — Ancestor Tree. Do not confuse Ancestor Tree POI rushes with tutorial Soul Tree bell rings.

Solo tips for Soul Tree routes

Solo Gyldhunters should:

  • Prioritize audio awareness — Woodling cues are your map when solo.
  • Extract immediately after bell summon if footsteps are near.
  • Avoid Soul Ferry PvP unless your Build wins isolated duels — see Tier List Solo.
  • Run Extraction Checklist so tree expiration does not catch you looting one extra room.

Soul Trees reward decisive extracts. Hear the chime, kill the Woodling, ring the bell, and portal before the tree withers — or accept Brandrgarde’s harsher mist while you hunt threads.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers hunters ask before every run.

Does a Soul Tree expire in Mistfall Hunter?

In-client help states Soul Trees wither after a period and can no longer be used for escape. Summon the extraction point quickly after the tree appears.

How does Hallowgrove extraction differ from Brandrgarde?

Hallowgrove uses Return Chime to summon a Woodling that becomes a Soul Tree, then bell ring for portal. Brandrgarde features random Soul Tree spawns plus Gyldenmist interval spread and Soul Ferry thread extracts.

What are Soul Threads?

Soul Threads are items used at Soul Ferry stations for extract. Help text says they can be looted from enemy Gyldhunters on Brandrgarde.

Can I extract without fighting a Woodling?

Map-dependent. Random Soul Trees and Soul Ferry paths offer alternatives, but each carries PvP or timer risk. Confirm live seasonal rules on Soul Hunt queues.

Is Ancestor Tree the same as Soul Tree?

No. Ancestor Tree is a mid-season Hallowgrove event with Gifts of Fate treasure contests. Standard Soul Trees are extract objects tied to Souls of Return.

Which guides should I read with this page?
