Extraction is the moment a Mistfall Hunter run becomes permanent progress. Until you leave the ruins through an extraction portal and reach your warehouse, every piece of Gyldenblod, weapon, and trinket you carry exists only in that single sortie. Understanding when to fight, when to portal, and how death interacts with your inventory separates profitable runs from frustrating wipes.

Prerequisites: what you need before extracting

A valid extract in Mistfall Hunter is tied to the Returner Woodling objective, not merely reaching a map edge:

1. Defeat the Returner Woodling and claim a Soul of Return. Without it, extraction systems described in official materials do not complete the run reward pipeline.
2. Carry the Soul of Return safely while you move to an extraction point. Dropping it — or dying with it — typically resets your ticket home.
3. Summon the extraction portal using the in-game interact flow once you are in an authorized extract zone. Exact UI labels may differ between beta and launch; verify in the client when live.
4. Enter the portal before rivals interrupt the cast or kill you during the channel.

Step-by-step extraction flow

Secure the objective first

Rookie players often loot the map for twenty minutes before touching the Woodling. That invites third-party kills while you are overloaded with gear but still lack a Soul of Return. A safer default:

• Loot lightly on the path toward Woodling audio or map cues.
• Clear the boss encounter with consumables ready.
• Then sweep high-value containers on the exit path if time allows.

Choose your extract timing

Once the Soul of Return is yours, decide between immediate extract and greed passes:

If an enemy Gyldhunter pushes, you choose between canceling to fight, burning utilities to finish the channel, or splitting bait. Extraction PvP is often more lethal than mid-map skirmishes because both sides know exactly where you must stand.

Cross the threshold

Entering the portal triggers the run resolution screen and moves eligible loot into your warehouse bank. Items you left on the ground, in a stash you forgot, or on a corpse stay in the instance. Double-check shared loot rules if you play in a party — official squad economics may clarify at launch.

Death, corpses, and inventory loss

Mistfall Hunter advertises high stakes. Open Beta reporting described differentiated death outcomes:

• PvE or ambient deaths sometimes allowed interaction with a soul-state corpse to recover gear, depending on circumstances reported by players.
• PvP deaths were described as harsher, with full inventory loss in many beta scenarios.

Label those behaviors as beta-reported until launch patches document live rules. Even if soul recovery exists, relying on it is a gamble. Play as if death means a wiped run whenever rivals are active.

PvP on the extract

Successful extraction deposits Gyldenblod and gear into your warehouse, the persistent inventory layer that feeds crafting, builds, and future loadouts.
