Mistfall Hunter Fair Play, Reports, and Illegal Teaming
How to report cheaters and illegal teaming, what Bellring announced on August 3 and 12, and which tools shipped in the August 12 client.
Fair play is now a live-service topic in Mistfall Hunter, not a pre-launch promise. Bellring published Fair Play Penalty Announcement posts on August 3 and August 12, 2026, plus chat-moderation notes in the August 7 server notice. This page explains how reporting works, what illegal teaming means in official language, and which client tools you already have — without reprinting ban lists or teaching evasion.

Official ask — report in the match
The August 12 Steam post (author Rui) asks Gyldhunters who see suspected cheaters or illegal teaming to report in-game so the team can track violators faster. That is the only first-party path this wiki endorses. Do not send account credentials to third-party “report bots.”
Bellring also said this week (from that August 12 post) they would roll out a feedback email that notifies you when a report results in a penalty. Treat the email as a follow-up feature, not a requirement before you report. If you have not received mail, the report can still be in review.
What “illegal teaming” is — and the August 3 translation fix
Illegal teaming is official language for unofficial alliances across match factions — for example, two rival squads agreeing not to fight, sharing loot, or stacking more than the intended trio against a third party. A normal three-player squad queued together is not illegal teaming. Cross-play trios on Multiplayer are intended.
On August 3, 2026, Bellring posted additional notes: some language versions of the Fair Play announcement had a serious translation error in the Illegal Teaming description that caused confusion. If you read a localized in-client or Steam paragraph that seemed to ban ordinary squads, prefer the English Steam clarification and this page over a broken locale string.
We do not invent extra examples beyond that official framing. When in doubt, report the match and let Bellring decide.
Tools that already shipped
| Tool | When | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| In-match Report | Launch + restated Aug 7 / Aug 12 | Flags suspected cheats or illegal teaming |
| World Chat Blocklist | August 12 Update | Hide a player’s World Chat messages |
| Chat ad bans | August 7 server notice | Nearly 30 ad accounts banned by then |
| Report-result email | Promised the week of August 12 | Tells you when a report leads to a penalty |
| Kernel anti-cheat (PC) | Launch | Bellring Anti-Cheat on Steam — System Requirements |
The August 7 notice also said the team was continuing to address cheating and illegal teaming while investigating lag. Those tracks are separate: a report does not fix rubber-banding, and a stutter clip is not a cheat report. Lag status: August 15 Update and Known Issues.
What we will not publish
Steam’s August 12 post attached a long masked account list of bans and teaming penalties. This wiki does not republish those names. Public shaming lists go stale, get copied by scams, and do not help you extract. If you need to know whether your report landed, wait for the feedback email or contact support via Official Links.
We also refuse:
- Instructions to bypass anti-cheat or hide teaming
- Fake “unban” codes or Discord middlemen
- Invented ban-duration tables Bellring did not publish
How to report without wrecking your run
- Stay alive first — a dead reporter still loses the haul. See How to Extract.
- Open the in-match report UI on the suspect player or squad.
- Pick the closest official category (cheat vs illegal teaming). Do not file both as a joke.
- If World Chat is the problem, use Add to Blocklist instead of arguing.
- After extract, keep a short note: map, time, region, and what you saw. Support may ask.
- Never share your Steam / PSN / Xbox password with anyone offering to “escalate.”
During Soul Harvest, cocoon resonance reveals other carriers. That is a designed PvP hook, not proof of teaming. Third parties collapsing on a Soulgnawer ritual is normal extraction pressure.
Fair play versus squad play
Legitimate play includes:
- A queued trio with roles from Squad Comps
- Cross-play invites by Player ID — Crossplay
- Fighting or fleeing other Gyldhunters in the same instance
- Trading through the official Auction House after extract
Suspicious patterns Bellring is targeting (in their words) are cheating and illegal teaming. Real-money trading and unofficial “carry” Discords also sit outside the intended loop — we do not host those markets here.

Fair play in Mistfall Hunter is a report button, a chat blocklist, and patience for official penalties — not a leaked ban paste and not a reason to abandon a legal trio. Report the match, extract if you can, and let Bellring’s week-of-August-12 email feature tell you when a case closed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers hunters ask before every run.
How do I report a cheater in Mistfall Hunter?
Use the in-game report control during or after the match. Bellring asked for in-match reports on August 12 so they can track violators faster. Do not use third-party report sites.
Is a normal trio illegal teaming?
No. A queued three-player squad is intended. Illegal teaming means unofficial alliances across rival groups. An August 3 Steam note said some translations of that term were wrong.
Will I get an email when my report works?
Bellring said the week of August 12 they would roll out a feedback email when a report results in a penalty. It is a follow-up, not a replacement for reporting.
Where is the World Chat blocklist?
The August 12 live update added Add to Blocklist inside the World Chat window. That hides messages; it is not the same as a cheat report.
Does this wiki list banned accounts?
No. We do not republish Steam penalty lists. They go stale and attract scams. Use official support if you need account-specific answers.
Is Soul Harvest resonance a teaming exploit?
No. Cocoon holders revealing each other is an official Soul Harvest rule. Third-party fights at the ritual are expected PvPvE, not automatic illegal teaming.
